One-Stat-Warfare
Rules for Skirmish and Regimental Scale Combat With Miniatures
PLAYTEST EDITION
One Stat Warfare is an attempt to make a miniature wargame with one main stat - Strength (Might or Skill). Strength determines a figure's movement rate, combat ability and morale. Figures can be modified and customized further with the addition of Attributes like 'Ranged Attack', 'Magic Points', 'Dauntless' and 'Fearsome' for instance. Now, orcs are as strong and mean as they look, no longer do skeletons have to be weak and unskilled (think Jason and the Argonauts). Best of all, no more tedious comparison of attributes and tables. This is the hope of the author for the rules set anyway. The game does not endorse any particular figure manufacturer and any scale can be used.
Below are some sample figures and regiments.
Badlands Hogboblins: 12 hobgoblins with 7 Strength each (84), Shields (+12), +1 Armor/-1 Movement (+12), Standard (+2), Musician (+2) = 112 Points. This regiment can move 6" (charge 10.5"), each combatant adds 7 to a D10 melee roll, each hobgoblin has 7 hit points, and will route if an 8 or more is rolled on a D10. The standard and musician add 1 each to the morale of the regiment. The second rank adds 1 each to melee results.
Badlands Goblins and Xvarts - Often used as servants by powerful necromancers to rob graves and fight alongside the unholy skeletons. Most sculpted by Bob Olley. Some have Ranged Attack Attribute.
Men-At-Arms of the King - Strength 5, Shields, Spears (gives +1 ST in first round of combat), Standard, Musician, and Captain. Non-command figures from Lionheart by Milton Bradley.
Archers of the Crown. Non-command figures from Lionheart by Milton Bradley.
